Ok, that’s it. New design coming up.

I enjoy using the K2 framework. They’ve gone to great lengths to provide a stable, extensible, flexible, modern, and juicy-featured theme for WordPress. I’ve used it now for about 2 years, if it’s various forms.

Currently it sits at version 1.0-RC6rev703, if you go by the nightlies. They’ve added a really slick sidebar manager, which was originally my reason for settling with this theme. It is the most flexible thing I’ve found to date.

They’ve also added some neat javascripty navigation tricks for clicking through blog archives, and most recently they’ve added ‘Hooks’ into their template files. This hasĀ  alleviated the issue of having to edit their theme files directly, which when you upgraded their theme you had to be careful not to forget any tweaks or code you added. It truly separates the front from the back, allowing you to inject your custom objects and content into pre-defined insertion points programmagtically.

Meanwhile, I’ve not yet upgraded to that latest version. In fact I am still back on Revision 3, which though it isn’t archaic, it does not utilise the Hooks feature, and in order to move my site into that framework, I need to peel out all my customizations, which is proving to be another hack n slash nightmare. (sigh).

So therefore, I am going to start over. In fact, I’ve been kind of thinking on this for some time and this last break is the oomf I needed to commit to it. eswhy.com is changing, and will no longer be my personal blog/playground. I need to put my serious face on. So, starting soon, my personal fun stuff will be moved over to seanyeomans.com, and my consulting/business oriented things will be here at eswhy.com.

I’m giving myself a month to do it. It’s kind of a personal challenge and an opportunity of growth in practise. Wish me luck. Any suggestions as to what you think you’d like to see in either case would be considered, probably humorously but good heartedly.
