Well, how awesome is this? The PM of the UK is using WordPress to power his website!
Apparently just launched today, this elegant yet navigably succint website is a most excellent example of what can be done with WP. The widget stylings as well as clean, clear use of space make for a jolly good way for the figure head of the empire to keep in touch with us the rabble.
Way to go, you guys.
Scientists solve riddle of toxic algae blooms.
After a remarkable 37-year experiment, University of Alberta scientist David Schindler and his colleagues have finally nailed down the chemical triggers for a problem that plagues thousands of freshwater and coastal ecosystems around the world.

In the beginning, the net was crude and ugly. The original spec for WWW markup language was basic HTML. Text formatting, colors, some graphics; maybe 2 or 3 tiny ones, but not more, since modems were so slow.
